“My life partner should be simple and beautiful’’, says comedian Kapil Sharma

Comedy is a serious business and it is not all easy to make audience laugh; who knows this better than Kapil Sharma. This stand-up comedian has grown up in his career through lot of hard work and confidence. After participating in eight reality shows and winning all of them, finally he has his own show-Comedy Nights With Kapil and luckily he won the hearts of million here too.

In an interview with Daily Bhaskar, Kapil Sharma talks about his journey so far with CNWK, his marriage plan, his story from rags to riches and much more.

The show has completed one year successfully. How was your experience so far?

So far, the whole journey has been wonderful.  Every comedian dreams of having his own show and I did too. I was aware with the fact that producing a show is not easy, but after all, I am risk taker. I took it, and it makes me feel very happy that I have managed to make audience laugh. Comedy is a very serious business. The show is doing well and it is one of the highest ratings amongst the nonfiction shows. I am blessed to make people laugh.

You have come a long way from being just a stand-up comedian. 

Yes, before CNWK happened, I had participated in nearly eight reality shows. Luckily, I had won all the titles. But that was not enough for me. I had started my career with theatre, but there was no money there. You need money to make people laugh. Audiences expect comedy from me, but I am not just a stand-up comedian anymore. There is lot of variety in me. I act on stage, had hosted Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, conduct interviews on my show, will soon do a Bollywood debut. I have grown as a person and also as an artist.
